Why 1927 nm
Platform literature describes 1927 nm as suited to the appearance of pigmentation with a lower risk of post-inflammatory change than more aggressive CO2 or Er:glass platforms. That is a literature statement, not an American Spa Lasers study.

Current generation versus earlier systems
Earlier ablative platforms such as fractional CO2 or Er:YAG deliver deeper resurfacing with longer downtime and higher PIH risk on a wider range of skin types. Lavandula uses 1927 nm thulium in a non-ablative fractional approach targeting water. Owners offer shorter recovery (literature states 1–3 days of mild redness), broader suitability, and a machine that supports higher daily throughput for brightness, tone, and fine lines.

Where the modality calls for it: more than one wavelength or depth, cooling in the handpiece, and a design meant for a full day of appointments. FDA clearance and TGA inclusion where that platform requires them. Confirmed on the call, not assumed from a sheet.
Older or entry-level systems are not on this list. The practical difference for an owner is a shorter appointment, a broader menu, and a machine you can still trade.
